2 weeks in paradise

I've been in Barcelona for almost two weeks now. In a way it feels like I've been here for way longer, because it really starts to feel like home. My friends Aitor and Dani are being so nice, showing me around, helping me with my Spanish studies and I still live with Dani. I couldn't be more grateful.

In my previous post, I wrote that this whole city is like a big piece of art and after 2 weeks I am even more certain that this is the case. Everywhere I look I see architecture, art and pure beauty, and I haven't even been inside of either Sagrada Familia or the Picasso museum yet.

The 11th September was the "Catalan Independence Day", the day when people from Catalonia demonstrate to get independence. I had the luck of being a part of this event. It was very interesting, I must say. Before I met Aitor, I didn't even know what Catalonia was, I didn't know there was a language called Catalan and I certainly didn't know there was a part of Spain that wanted independence. Turns out, this is a huge thing here and people are very passionate about this topic.

The job search is not going as well as I hoped. I've been sending so many emails and gotten almost no replies at all. It's quite frustrating to not know if someone even read my emails or if they're just thrown away or forgotten. But I'm trying to keep the spirit up. I'm not ready to go home yet.

I've been on two interviews and they both seemed to go very well. Both of them were for volunteer positions in hostels, but in one of the hostels I needed a work permit I've never heard of and that is supposed to be REALLY hard to get and the other one basically promised me work but haven't gotten back to me.

Well, I will enjoy this weekend and if I haven't heard anything by Monday it might be time to come up with a new plan.
