Sydney #2

After almost a week in Sydney I started to get quite bored, I didn't like it at all. But then I met Elena, again, Maurizio and Alex. And they made it a lot better! Elena left the next day, unfortunately, but I started hanging out quite a lot with Maurizio or, as I call him, Morris and Alex. Morris is Italian, from Venice (I know! To bad he's planning to stay in Australia for a few years), and Alex is from Quebec, Canada.

A city can be really boring if you're feeling lonely and the bigger the city, the harder it is to meet people, for some reason. But after meeting Morris and Alex I, slowly, started to like Sydney. We went to Manly and Bondi together, had fika (with a k) at Fika Swedish Kitchen and went to the open air cinema. Well, we sat behind the fence and watched it for free.. With a few branches in the way. I already miss these guys, a lot! Sometimes, when you meet really awesome people, you kind of wish you never met them, because you can never be sure when or if you'll meet them again. But on the other hand, the memories they give you are worth more than anything in the world.

My favourite beach, out of the ones I tried, is probably manly. The neighbourhood is really chilled out and "surfy" and the beach is long and not too crowded. Me and Morris even found a cave. We followed the beach until it turns into cliffs and kept on walking on the cliffs. Finally we came to a cave/tunnel. It was dark and wet and it really felt like we'd found something that nobody else knew about. We met a few people on the other side though, so we were not the first ones to discover it but on the way back, we stopped to talk to a local photographer who told us that most locals doesn't know it exists. It was a great adventure!

I booked my flight up to cairns just a few days before it was time to go. The day came.. I met Morris for a goodbye-fika and then took by bags and went to the airport. The bus driver told me that I couldn't stay at the domestic airport during the night, which I had planned to do since my flight was really early in the morning, so I had to go to the international airport and then take the first train in the morning... I missed the train... And the flight... Lucky me I only had to pay $50 to get on the next flight (which was 5 hours later). Well, now I know how it feels to miss a flight after staying awake waiting for it a whole night.
