Cairns

The first thing I saw when I came to Cairns was the hills covered in Rainforest and I felt at home right away, because it looked a bit like New Zealand. It's a lot warmer here though, and so humid. I can't understand how people here can cope with this weather. I liked Cairns from the start, it's small, friendly and actually kind of beautiful with the lights along the esplanade and the harbour, but even after a week I hadn't learnt to deal with the heat and humidity even a little bit.

The hostel I stayed in, Dreamtime, was just as good as the name suggested. I stayed in a three bed dorm which was very nice, especially since my roommates were really awesome and I kind of had my own room in the room. There was a pool, which I didn't try, but it looked nice and the hostel was calm and quiet. I know I sound like an old lady, but if you try staying in hostels for half a year you will appreciate a quiet hostel as well.

There is a swedish cafe in Cairns and of course I had to try it! I had korvstroganoff and rise, yummy! With real falukorv! It was so good! I also bought wasa sport knäckebröd (it's like hard bread) and saft (kind of like juice but it's not juice). That is pure happiness!

Except for the amazing swedish food, I tried an iced chocolate at one of the coffee shops in town. It was the best chocolate I've ever had. It had ice cream and stuff in it as well. So unhealthy but oh so good. It was Shani, my roommate, who showed me the place. She's a coffee addict and that was her favourite place.
