Cusco, Lima and Huaraz

After 5 days of trekking, both me and Simona felt like we needed some quiet fika days. The first was spent in a café called Chocolizo, which is my favorite café in South America so far. There we skyped and had great coffees! A girl from the trek, Olivia, joined us and we all went out for dinner that night. We tried a Peruvian specialty, Guinea pig... When we first got the plate the Guinea pig was whole and we took some pictures. Then the chef chopped it up for us and we tried it. It was ok, nothing extraordinary and I wouldn't order it again.

The rest of our time in Cusco were spent almost the same way. We went to a market, the big cathedral and had fikas and good food. Me and Simona decided to fly to Lima since it was only about 10 dollars more than taking the bus. It was a good decision, an hour on a plane instead of a looong bus ride.

We arrived in Lima and took a taxi to Miraflores and our hostel. The taxi driver was a douche and our first impression of Lima was not amazing, even though that changed. We didn't do a lot in Lima and we only had 3 days there, but we did do a free walking tour in the center. It was a good tour but Simona got a sunstroke at the end so we went back earlier to have a rest. Other than that we just tried some different kinds of food and walked around Miraflores. Lima is supposed to be a great food city and we were quite happy with it.

On one of our strolls, we walked past a travel agency, where we booked a bus for Huaraz. It was a night bus with Cama and we both actually slept pretty well in the bus. We arrived and checked in to a hotel where we had a nap before going to another travel agency to book a tour to Laguna 69. The rest of the day turned out to be lazy as well and we went to the same cafe twice that day. Cafe Andina was the name, really cozy and the American owner seemed to care a lot about us and if we were happy with the food.

The following morning started early. We got picked up a bit after 5 and then we drove to the beginning of the track. Neither Simona or I were really up for hiking but we thought it was going to be an easy one and we didn't want to miss out. We started the hike and it started easy, then it got harder... And harder. We were about to give up a couple of times, but we did it. It took us about 3,5 hours to get up and we didn't really think the lagoon was worth it. After 20-30 minutes, we started to walk down again and that wasn't the easiest task either since it was quite steep. When we finally got back to the mini van, that was going to bring us back to the hotel, we were so exhausted and we promised each other not to do anymore hikes in a while.
