Angra dos Reis and Ilha Grande
My plan was to go from Rio to Foz do Iguacu, but when Tiago asked if I wanted to come with him to Ilha Grande, I just couldn't say no. After a few arguments about when we should leave, we finally got on the bus to Angra dos Reis. We checked in to our hostel and started to look for accommodation in Ilha Grande, but it seemed like an impossible task. Everything seemed fully booked and the boat to get there was quite expensive. After a while we decided to just go there and hope for the best the next day.
Angra dos Reis is not a big place and it's not very nice either. We tried to make the best out of the situation though and went to a small beach, after lunch in a local restaurant, where people had told us we could see turtles. We didn't see any turtles, but we had a good time and the water was just the perfect temperature! We got a ride back with a guy from the beach and started to get ready for dinner. So far so good... Tiago went out for dinner while I stayed in the hostel with food poisoning, from the lunch restaurant. It was my first time and it's not something I would wish for my worst enemy even though it only lasted for an hour or two.
The next morning, we checked out and took the boat to Ilha Grande. The boat ride was really nice and the weather was amazing. We found a completely new hostel right away and checked in. Tiago charmed the two girls working in the hostel, as always. It's always so fun to watch.
One day in Ihla Grande is not a lot, but we managed to do quite a bit anyways. Petting a pig in a beach which we hiked to, saving a dog on a boat and exploring the small village we stayed in. The following morning was an early one because we had to get on the bus to São Paulo.
