Curitiba

I first met Amanda and her friends Conrado, Henry and Paula in Buenos Aires, we had some nice days and I really liked hanging out with them. When we split up in Colonia del Sacramento, I wasn't sure whether I would ever see them again or not. It was sad and I just wanted to go with them, but since that's a part of the backpacker life I just accepted it.

Yesterday I found out that I wouldn't be able to stay in Florianopolis (or at least not at the amazing hostel Barra beach club) any longer so I decided to go to Curitiba to visit my amazing Brazilian friends. I just have to say that all the Brazilians that I've talked to so far on my trip has been wonderful! Well, I got a taxi to my hostel, checked in, had a really good nights sleep and went down to breakfast where I met a German guy and a (again) really nice Brazilian guy. We had a chat and then I went to the Sunday market. I love markets and this one was not an exception! In the markets in Sweden there's usually a lot of people selling the same stuff, cheap clothes with bad quality, toys with bad quality and then of course the market sweets (which is usually the only good thing). This market was different, almost everything was hand made, there was a huge variety of things and the people selling their hand made bags, clothes, pillows or what ever it could be, made more of their products behind the counter so that you could see how they were done. It was such a nice experience!

After the market, I wandered around for a few hours before getting back to the hostel to get picked up by Amanda. We went to a park to see a few of her friends, had some beer, moved on to a pizza place where we had some delicious pizza and then we went to her apartment.

Her parents are really nice and welcoming and the apartment looks like a luxury hotel to me! I've got my own room, which is super nice and has its own toilet and shower. It all feels surrealistic but it's nice to have some luxury after staying in hostels for a few weeks! And I'm so so grateful that they're letting me stay here!

Tomorrow we have a full day, Amanda is taking me to do some sightseeing, then we're going to the gym, Amanda's parents have planned a bbq and we might be going out. Sounds like a lot of fun but it will be a long day so I should probably sleep!! I am really tired after all the walking today.

Cheers
