Florianopolis - Barra da Lagoa
The bus ride from Chuy was not the best experience of my life, but it was definitely ok. The food was terrible, but the seats were comfortable and I had two seats for myself which made it a lot easier to sleep.
We arrived in Florianopolis around 09.30 AM and I had no clue of where I should go, so I followed the English couple, Grace and Andy, to their hostel in Barra da Lagoa to ask if they had a bed for me. They did! And I was so happy that I chose to go with Grace and Andy instead of trying to find something by myself, because the hostel was amazing! It was about 50 meters from the beach on a hill, can you imagine that view? The breakfast buffet was almost as good as the view, with a lot of different fruits, bread, jam, cheese, ham, home made juice, coffee, cereal and milk. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever had in a hostel and the staff was amazing (especially Mariella!)!!
My first night, when I was going to bed, I met my three roommates. Three lovely girls, two from Brazil and one from Argentina. We talked for at least two hours, about the differences between our countries, where we'd been and what we wanted to do in life. It felt so good to talk with people who I actually clicked with right away, since I had felt a little lost and lonely for a few days.
The next day I went to Lagoa, another part of the island, with Carolina (the Argentinian girl) to send a postcard and to explore the shops and restaurants there. We had some lunch at a restaurant with a buffet. You paid for the weight of food you had on your plate, which I thought was very clever! Carolina told me what was typical Brazilian and what I had to try, all of it was delicious!! When we got back to the hostel, we had our free Caipirinha (a Brazilian drink made of cachaça, sugar, ice and lemon) and a really good sandwich at the hostel bar and then we went for crepes! Such a good food day!
Yesterday was Carolinas last day in Barra, we did a small hike to the natural pools (which is a beautiful place but I didn't really understand why it was called natural pools, since it was just the ocean and some rocks) and then we went for a swim. The waves were quite big but the water was just the right temperature, so nice! We went for a last drink at the hostel and then I had to say goodbye to Carolina, I will miss her and hope to see her in Sweden next year!
Today I had to check out of the hostel, since they didn't have any room for me anymore, so I decided to continue my trip. Right now I'm on the bus to Curitiba to meet the Brazilians I met in Buenos Aires. So excited!
