First impression of Barcelona

As you might know, I decided to go to Barcelona for fall since I didn't have any other plans. I have no idea for how long I will stay or what I will do, more than that I want to improve my Spanish, but I did know that I wanted to see my Cuba friends Dani and Aitor. I also knew that Barcelona would be, if not a great and exciting new home, at least a great holiday destination.

I arrived late Sunday night and got picked up by Dani. Amazing Dani who speaks just barely more English than I speak Spanish and who offered me a place to stay for a few nights. We communicate with English, Spanish, laughters and google translate. It actually works better than I expected!

The minute I stepped out of the airport, I just knew I would love this city and a whole day of walking around this beautiful museum like place is not making me disappointed. Barcelona has everything I could ever ask for in a city and maybe even a little bit more. Except for the beaches, the amazingly beautiful architecture and all of the small roads with cute little shops, it is also very clean, tons to do and easy to get around. It's a walkable city, which is great for me, and if you don't feel like walking the metro is great and quite cheap.

You know it's been a good day when you're sitting in a gelateria, eating a gelato after walking around 4 hours, sitting at the beach with a good book and having amazing pizza, with fruits as a dessert, for lunch.

Barcelona, you had me at the "bienvenido"-sign!
